NAC / Paws to Polls Candidate Forum
The Neighborhood Advisory Council (NAC) has been hosting City Council Candidate Forums for many, many years. This year we are very excited to be partnering with MSU's Paws to the Polls.
The forum this year will be held on Wednesday, April 2nd from 5:30 - 7:30 in MSU PSU. Please save the date!
Springfield Votes
My name is Andrew Crocker of Ozarks Technical Community College. I co-sponsor a student club here on campus with my coworker Cara Griffin, and every year, we host an event for our student body and the community called Springfield Votes, in the hopes of promoting all of the people running for elected office in every April election. We’re reaching out to you because this year, you are one of those people!
Our student organization is over 80 students strong here at Ozarks Tech, and this is probably the best-attended event our students throw all year. For five years now, every single person who is serving on City Council and the SPS School Board have attended this event, and we’ve unfailingly had positive experiences with them.
Last year we had upwards of 100 students and members of the community attend, and we enable them to walk freely through the room and meet with all the candidates in an effort to get to know you and learn about you better. The entire event, you will be flanked by a member of our student cabinet, who is there to ensure you are treated respectfully.
The event will be held on campus, in our Lincoln building, specifically the large hall of Lincoln 211. We’ll have a designated table and a space for you to set up with any campaign signs and swag you wish to bring, and we’ll provide the refreshments. The event will run from 5:30pm to 7:00pm.
Please respond to this email and confirm with us that you plan to attend, and ask any questions you may have. Again, we cannot stress enough how this is a valuable experience for our student body and our community, and it should be a prime opportunity for you to mingle with voters and get your own message out there as well.
Campaign Kickoff!
Join us for a campaign kickoff and fundraiser event! 5:30-7:00 pm There will be appetizers and coffee, tea and water (donated by Bambinos!) with a cash bar. Bruce will be making some remarks around 6 pm. We should also have yard signs available at that time as well as slots for volunteers signup for door knocking and other activities. Don’t forget your checkbook or credit card!
People’s Candidate Forum
On behalf of Springfield Tenants Unite, Missouri Jobs With Justice, and PROMO Missouri, we are pleased to invite you to participate in a nonpartisan City Council Candidate Forum on Saturday, February 15th, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Schweitzer Brentwood Library, located at 2214 S Brentwood Blvd, Springfield, MO 65804.
Springfield Tenants Unite, Missouri Jobs With Justice and PROMO Missouri have come together to plan this event because we all believe in the importance of getting the public engaged with the democratic process--especially folks who have historically been marginalized in it.
This forum is an opportunity for you to share your priorities and goals with members of the community as they prepare to make informed decisions in the upcoming election. The event will feature a moderated format with pre-submitted and live audience questions, ensuring a balanced and engaging discussion. Questions are submitted by volunteer leaders of each organization and a moderator will be present for the entirety of the event.
Delaware Neighborhood Association
I have been invited to the post-business-meeting agenda for the Delaware Neighborhood meeting, which is Tuesday, February 4 and starts at 6:00pm in the Community Room on the south side of Delaware Elementary School at 1505 S Delaware Ave. The meeting will adjourn at about 7:00pm, and candidates will have as much time as people are interested in sticking around. You are welcome to attend our meeting, or to come after.
SNUG Meeting
Several candidates will be at this meeting to answer questions from the group.
